Jacqueline’s Obituary
Allan, Jacqueline Amelia-83, of Dartmouth, Halifax County, passed away on Thursday December 10, 2020 in the loving arms of her niece/daughter Karla. Born in East Green Harbour on November 11, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” Malloy of Jean de Baie, Newfoundland and the late Hannah Jane Enslow of West Green Harbour. Jackie ventured from home at the tender age of 16 to train as a certified nurse assistant at the Camp Hill Hospital Nursing Education program. From there, she ventured with a group of girlfriends to take a position in a hospital in Saint Anne de Belliveau, Montreal. It was there she met the love of her life and devoted husband, Harold Allan. Together, they went on many adventures, lived every day as it was their last, worked hard, and surrounded themselves with friends who shared their love for life, many of whom they would proudly call family to this day. In 1973, Jackie and Harold ventured back to Nova Scotia where she began administrative work at General Electric Canada, and he, a welder at the Halifax Shipyard. Once settled, with no biological children of their own, they began a lifetime of providing a loving and devoted home for the many cherished Pomeranians they parented over their lifetime. In keeping in true Malloy fashion, Jackie was as big as life, and her heart followed suit. With no children of her own, she became like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, until her very last breath. She became the matriarch of the family when her mother passed, and as her nieces and nephews lost their mothers. As the youngest niece of her youngest brother who were both the babies in the family, I think I monopolized her as my other mother most. That is until my son Robbie was born. He was her boobear, her little man, and she lived for the times she spent with him. She loved him to the moon, and told him that every single day.
She was generous, selfless, kind, non judgemental, positive, and “Aunt Jackie” to all who met her. She never got caught up in the affairs of others, and one of the greatest things she taught me was “everyone has to sail their own boat”. People were attracted to the light of her soul, and she made friends wherever she went. She was often told by others that if they died, they hoped they came back as her dog. She had a family of work friends who she thoroughly enjoyed and anticipated their morning breakfast outings, which turned into lunches most days. She loved to laugh, have fun, and run the roads. Her loss has broken us. She is survived by her brothers, Gary (Hope) Malloy of Petticodiac, NB, Maynard (Millie) Malloy, of Mill Village, Sister in law Patricia (Gordon) Malloy of East Green Harbour, niece/daughter Karla (Rob) Swansburg, special grandson Robbie Swansburg, close nieces Pam (Carmen) Heisler, Donna (Mike) Fraser, Kristine (Raymond) Nickerson, Faith (Steve) Kennedy and nephew Jim (Paul) Watson, along with many other nieces and nephews whom she also adored. She was predeceased by her parents,Jack & Hannah Malloy, husband Harold Charles Allan, beloved pomeranian children Cuddles, Chip, Trixie, grand fur baby Kiah; sisters Jean Watson, Loretta Buchanan, Ivy Christie, and Mary Cotter.
