Obituary of Ineta Veronica Skepple
SKEPPLE, Ineta Veronica
Dip. ED., RN. BsN., MsN.
Beloved wife of the late Dan Skepple Sr. went to be with her Lord on Sunday October 11, 2020.
Ineta was born in Antigua and was a schoolteacher there before emigrating to Canada with her family in 1967. She became a nurse (Hotel Dieu and Syracuse University graduate) and subsequently taught nursing at St Lawrence College and Queen’s University before retiring in 1998.
Ineta was a mother to Daniel, Jr of Edmonton, Alberta; Alistone of Ottawa, Canada; and Rev. Roger Skepple of Atlanta, Georgia. She and her husband reared her youngest brother Atley Parker and her nephew Randy Parker. She was the eldest sister to her nine siblings; a grandmother to her ten grandchildren, her three great grandchildren and was “Dear Aunt” to her many nieces and nephews. Ineta committed her energy and life to teaching and caring for others. She was an avid reader and music lover and found much comfort and satisfaction from her church and her Bible.
With her quiet disposition, she was able to touch the lives of not only her children and grandchildren but also her patients and her students. Her devotion to her family and church, her loyalty to her friends and neighbours, and her diligent visits to Kingston’s Long- term Care facilities were remarkable.
To her children she leaves her strength of character and integrity. To her daughters-in-law she leaves her desire to protect and cherish family. To her grandchildren she leaves her caring and compassionate disposition. To her friends she leaves the memories of a lifetime of change and growth, and finally to her students and patients she leaves the legacy of a friend and advocate who always loved and cared for them and believed in their abilities.
Ineta lived a full life, gave generously of herself in the communities in which she lived and will be greatly missed by all whose paths she crossed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Kingston Cancer Society OR to the Salvation Army Men’s Fellowship Bursary, Kingston.
Funeral arrangements in the care of JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME. Mrs. Skepple’s funeral arrangements will be announed when details are made available.
