Herbert (Humphrey) Lue, born in Kingston, Jamaica on August 16, 1939, husband of Audrey (Lee), and father of Christopher (Joji), Deidre Cheryl (Soong Joon Kim, decd) and Michael (Cecelia), passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning of February 25, 2020 at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Herbert was the proud grandfather of Darren Lue, Megan Lue, Alexander Kim, Breanna Kim, Lucas Lue, Marcus Lue and Kelly Lue.
Among friends and family, Herbert was known for his excellent Chinese and Jamaican cooking, his love of fishing and for his friendly, yet direct, Jamaican attitude. He loved to crack jokes and give his friends funny nicknames. Herbert was a businessman. But, more than that, he was a family man.
Over the past few weeks, as he battled an infection, Herbert was always surrounded by his devoted wife and children. His illness had weakened his kidneys and put undue stress on his body and heart. With his family around him, Herbert looked at each member and spoke his last words, “I am satisfied.”
He currently rests at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, located at 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, ON.
Public Viewing at will start at 5 pm on Friday, February 28, 2020. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start, at which time Father Joseph Grima will deliver a short prayer. The viewing will end at 9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Parish Church, 5633 Hwy 7, Markham, Ontario at 10 am. Burial, following the funeral mass, will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON.
