November 30, 1927 – October 10, 2020
Henry (“Harry”) L. Egan passed peacefully at Laurier Manor on Saturday, October 10, 2020 with his beloved wife, Margaret, holding his hand. The end of an era for Harry (known as somewhat of an aficionado). He led his own band for decades performing at Embassies, for Prime Ministers and galas. He also played solo gigs specializing in Parisien French music. His music reached far and wide from Toronto to Quebec City. He performed many TV and radio shows. He not only played, but repaired accordions from as far away as Scotland to Newfoundland. He had a collection of over fifty accordions. His friends called it, “accordion heaven.” Harry is predeceased by his mother (Helen Yuill), father (Michael Thomas Egan), brother (Tom), and sisters (Annie, Muriel, and Mary). He leaves behind his musical partner, wife, Margaret, sons, Roger, Brian, daughter, Joanne. Stepchildren, Lyn, Meg, Brad (deceased), and Kathleen, as well as many loving Grandchildren. To some he was “Bampa La La.” A celebration of life will take place in Ottawa at a future date. Special thanks to Dr. Cameron and the incredibly caring staff on the 4th floor of Laurier Manor. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice.
