Helene was born in Kapuskasing in May of 1937. Growing up, she worked as a cook and waitress at a local diner. She married at 16, than moved a few years later to Timmins to start her own family. While supporting her family, she worked at the Golden Manor as a cleaning lady for over 20 years and often expressed the enjoyment of working there.
Helene was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and everything she did, she did for her family and always put everyone’s needs and wants ahead of her own. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for the family, with her specialty being bread and she loved it when family would stop by for a visit. Whether it be for a meal or an extended stay, she made you feel welcomed, loved and at home.
During her later years, she enjoyed her weekly visits to the salon, Bingo and watching Young & the Restless and her most favorite time was Christmas and looked forward to having her grand kids come over to help decorate the tree. The simplest of pleasures in life is what brought her great joy, and what she valued most was the hugs that she would receive from her loved ones.
The family will celebrate her life quietly and will entrust Miron-Wilson with the arrangements to host the funeral services at a later date in 2021. Remembrance donations to the Timmins Extendicare would be greatly appreciated by the family.
