Harold George Meyer 1933 2020

Obituary of Harold George Meyer
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Meyer announce his passing on November 30, 2020 at the age of 87 years.
Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan in1933, Harold moved with his family to settle on a farm seven miles north of Dysart, SK in the McDonald Hill School area. He moved to Regina as a young man, and joined the City of Regina Public Works Department in the early 50’s where he retired after 35 years. He then worked post retirement in the 1990’s as a sales representative for Signal Industries in Regina, and later as a Provincial Traffic Court Adjudicator.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Regina, Good Sam RV Club, and loved playing Crib and Square-dancing. He was active with the Regina Lions Band Organization over three decades, serving on its Board of Directors, and as a dutiful band parent, helping his sons sell Christmas cakes and driving them on bottle drives. Harold was also a member of the Regina Central Lions Club for over 30 Years, serving more than a few terms as club President, raising money for Lions causes that led to his nomination in 2020 to the Lions Hall of Fame.
One of Harold’s passions was Baseball. In his younger days he played and coached with Cappie Caplin and the Regina Royals Ball Club. He also served as Umpire on numerous occasions at several rural Saskatchewan community Heritage and Sports Day events. The Toronto Blue Jays were his favourite team and he never missed watching a game if he could.
Harold is survived by his two sons, Jason Meyer and Mitchell Meyer (Tricia); grandchildren Laurie Tolhurst (Chris), and Josh Meyer (Stephanie); his youngest sister, Jerry Sywyk (Larry); as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many friends.
Harold was predeceased by his loving wife, Bernice in 2016; eleven brothers and sisters and his father, mother and step-father.
Due to gathering restrictions there will be no funeral service held at this time.
Friends so wishing may make donations in Harold’s memory to the Regina Central Lion’s Club, C.O. David Dean, 405 North Garnet Street, Regina, SK, S4R 3T2.
