Vanderveen
Unexpectedly, on August 4, 2020 Gerben Peter John , of Dutton passed away in his 58th year. Loving and faithful husband of Cheryl Vanderveen [ Vanderploeg]. Amazing father of Diana,Gregory, Cassandra [Thomas]. Gerben is survived by his brothers George [Jenny]of St Thomas and Martin [Jen]of Ottawa. Cherished son-in-law of Albert & Teena Vanderploeg, St Thomas. Loving brother-in-law of James [Mistie] Vanderploeg of Dutton, and Marilyn Carr of Shedden. A special uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Cornelis and Clara Vanderveen and his brother-in-law Donald Vanderploeg. Gerben was well known, and well loved by so many people in his community. He spent many hours through the years volunteering and coaching hockey and soccer. Gerben had incredible talents and skills in construction and drywall trades. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and will be forever in our hearts. Family and friends will be received at Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton St. Dutton [519-762-2416] Friday August 7, for a drive through visitation from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Please enter parking lot off Shackleton to the East and exit onto Shackleton to the West. [More description on website]. The Funeral Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery Saturday August 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm. With Covid restrictions there is a maximum of 100 people in the cemetery. Masks are mandatory and remember social distancing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Elgin Community Health Centre, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Jack.org [Mental Health] or charity of choice.
