Gerald “Gerry” Giesbrecht 1940-2020. His life was well lived and he was deeply loved! On August 8, 2020 with family by his side, Gerald was called home after a courageous battle with cancer.
This proud, loving, tenacious, resourceful and caring man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be tremendously missed by his wife and partner of more than 25 years Karen and his children Trevor (Jean), Craig (Christine), Shane (Sheryl), Erin (Thuan) and Troy (Bretlynn).
Family was the pivotal essence of Gerry’s life. He was proud and honoured to be the oldest brother in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather in a beautiful blended family.
Gerry had a beautiful smile, and nothing brought him more joy and earned more smiles than his grandchildren. Gerry was so proud to be grandfather to Jacey (Logan), Kiana (Beau), Tristan, Shyla, Georgia, Kason, Kyan, Aven and great-grandfather to Theodore, Hadassah and Finneas.
Born in Winkler Manitoba on December 28, 1940, Gerald always had a love for woodworking, motorcycles, fishing, hunting and classic cars. He had a long-standing and steadfast relationship with God and was very blessed with faith to his last breath.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents Ester and Tobias, and first wife Sheila. He is survived by a large family, predominantly on the west coast, in the Yukon and by many more who love him here in Saskatchewan.
Gerald made his home in British Columbia, the Yukon and then Saskatchewan. No matter where Gerry called home, he had the ability to connect with people. His friendly, helpful and genuine nature led him to establish deep friendships that supported, encouraged and bonded until his final days. Morning coffees at the local McDonalds will be forever changed without Gerry.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Gerry’s friends and extended “family” from Faith Baptist Church of Regina, SK and the local membership of the Christian Motorcycle Association for their love, support and friendship over the years.
Gerald will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle and cheeky eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort in his lessons, memories and knowing that he is kicking the soccer ball to Buddy and watching over us all.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held on August 14, 2020. The celebration will be available through livestream at www.fbcregina.ca/fbc-tv for those who wish to observe.
