Obituary of Evelyn Florence Barrett
Evelyn Florence Barrett (née Bradbury) passed into glory, to be with her Lord on May 25th, 2020 after a brief illness. She was 91 years old.
Evelyn was born on January 1, 1929 in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland; where she grew up, became a teacher and met her husband. She married the Reverend John Bowering Barrett in 1951 and joined him on his journey as a United Church minister. After the birth of their son Keith in 1952, they moved to Ontario to continue John’s ministry and raise a family. They raised their three sons Keith, Calvin and George eventually settling in Strathroy, Ontario. Evelyn was involved in many activities in the church, including United Church Women and singing in the choir. Her primary focus was raising her family.
John predeceased her in 1987. While Evelyn continued with a full and active life for 33 years, including spending every summer at her Newfoundland residence, she missed her husband immensely. Evelyn was a wonderful grandmother to her three granddaughters, Christine, Heather and Taylor. She took great interest in their lives and taught them how to cook, knit and enjoy life.
We are blessed by the memory of her boundless love and the great time spent with mom in Strathroy and at her summer house in Newfoundland. Leaving to mourn are her sons Keith (Evelyn), Calvin and George (Linh Chu) and granddaughters Christine, Heather and Taylor and so many friends.
