McVETY , M. Evelyn — Passed away peacefully at Warkworth Place Nursing Home, Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in her 97th year . Beloved wife of the late James Thomas McVety for 54 years. Loving mother of David (Linda) Oakville, Murray (Margaret-Anne) Neselton, Elizabeth Kellogg (David – predeceased) Hastings, Robert – predeceased (Patricia) Peterborough, Carol Kerr (Allan) Campbellford, and Brenda Orr (James) Warkworth. Remembered fondly by sixteen grandchildren, predeceased by Tracy McVety and Jennifer Fernandes, and twenty three great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Lovingly remembered by her sister Irene Parker (Cobourg), brother in law and sister in law Jay and Muriel McVety (Baltimore), sister in law Valeta McVety (Oshawa) and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was born Feb 5, 1924 in Burnley, Ontario to Verna Mae & Robertus Wilson. She married James McVety on July 30, 1942. They moved to a farm on the 3rd Conc. of Percy for 26 years until moving to the farm on the 9th Conc. of Percy until retiring. Evelyn was a canvasser for many years for the Cancer Society, a member of the Hastings Trinity United Church, a UCW Member, a quilter, a card player and she made a mean pie. We are sincerely thankful to the staff at Warkworth Place and Mapleview Retirement Home, Norwood for their care of Evelyn, to Reverend Jamie York for the graveside service, and to Brett Funeral Chapel for making arrangements. A Memorial Celebration will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to the C. M. H, Trinity United Church, Warkworth Place or a charity of your choice.
