Passed away peacefully on Monday April 6th, 2020 in his 77th year at Hospice Georgian Triangle (Campbell House)in Collingwood, Ontario. Eugene will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years Jean, his children Debbie (Chris) and Sean (Crystal). Eugene will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren (Sarah and Jacob) and his siblings Viola (Munden), Scott (Joan), Kevin (Betty Lou), Audrey (Lloyd), Pansy (Cecil) and Peggy (Wilson). Eugene was predeceased by his parents (Harold and Carmen) and his siblings Claude (Ida), Harold (Irene), Clayton (Sandra) and Gloria (Harold). Eugene worked as a Sheet Metal mechanic for over 40 years and was highly regarded as one of the best in his field. With his vast expertise, he trained and mentored many new apprentices during his career. Eugene was a humble and kind man who was known as extraordinary handyman who joyfully shared his talents with family, friends and neighbours, always willing to fix, build and repair things for people. Eugene and Jean enjoyed many happy years after retirement In Florida and Newfoundland where they created many beautiful memories spending time with family and friends. Eugene’s family would like to graciously thank all our family and friends for your love, support and prayers as well as all the staff of the Hospice Georgian Triangle (Campbell house) and Drs Singh and Van Der Merwe for their extraordinary compassionate care. The family extends gratitude to Pastor Rob (Lighthouse church-Wasaga Beach) and our beloved family members Pastor Owen and Donna Black for your spiritual support. Due to current Covid 19 group gathering restrictions, in person memorial service is deferred (possible “virtual online service” may be arranged in near future-details will be posted on funeral home website).
