Elizabeth Beth Kenny nee Hynes 2020

Elizabeth (Beth) Kenny (nee Hynes)
August 01, 1936 – April 17, 2020

It is with heavy hearts we let go of Elizabeth of Witless Bay, after she endured a long battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at the Palliative Care unit surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Loyola and her children Deborah, Wayne, Ted, Gary and Colleen McTaggart (Geoff); her twin sister Martina Sharpe, sisters Kay Hynes, Loretta Hartery, Anna Hynes and brother Ray (Madeleine) and sister in law Sue Tobin. Waiting for her in heaven are her parents Catherine and James Hynes of Canada Harbour, sister Mary, and brothers Gerard, Tom and George. Leaving behind grandchildren Jonathon Morrissey (Aiden and Marcus) of Calgary, Blaize Hynes (Max and Henry) of St. John, N.B., Keifer Hynes of St. John, N.B., Jacob and Nicole Kenny of Halifax, N.S.; sister in law Vera Hagan of Mt. Pearl, brother in law Edmund (Genevieve) Kenny of Fermeuse, special friend Rosalie (Don) O’Neill of Mt. Pearl and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Many thanks to all who helped make her final days more comfortable: Dr. Rod McCarthy of Bay Bulls Family Practice and attending nurses Audrey Dalton and Nicole Power-Sharpe. Special mention to her son Wayne who was constantly by her side, administering to her needs at home until she went into Palliative Care, where the staff there took great care of her until the end. We greatly appreciate it.
Elizabeth was born in a small outport community called Canada Harbour in White Bay. She and her twin sister Martina moved to St. John’s, where they both trained and worked as nursing assistants at the old General Hospital. She met and married her husband Loyola and shared a family of five children. Having lived in Goose Bay for several years, they moved back to St. John’s to raise their family. They built a new home in Witless Bay about 45 years ago, where they have lived ever since. They both spent many happy summers back in Canada Harbour, where they built a summer home. Although Elizabeth could no longer travel back there for the last few years, they were both left with many fond memories of the good times they shared there with relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place through Cauls Funeral Home, where you can offer and view online condolences. The family would greatly appreciate any donations made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Cancer Society or Health Care Foundation. Service to be held at a later date.
We will miss her and treasure our memories of our time together.
