It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Wilson (age 69) on May 27, 2020. Edna passed away at home with her family by her side and the love of many friends and extended family felt through daily phone calls. She was the daughter of Heber and Mary Jane Edison of Botwood and grew up in a loving home, 1 of 8 children with numerous cousins and family nearby. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Wilbert, Manson, Marven (Shirley), Thomas (Melvina), Sandra and younger sister Pauline.
With fond and loving memories she leaves to mourn her husband of 43 years Edwin (Ted), her two children: Raymond & Victoria and her new son-in-law Tomos. Her sister Ivy (Ray), sisters-in-law Christine (Wilbert), Eleanor (Manson), brother-in-law John (Pauline) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Edna started her career as a senior librarian with EPA in Gander after she finished her Business Administration course at the Gander Vocational School. She later acquired a position as a Customer Services Agent and remained in this role until her retirement with full service from Air Canada in 2005. During her time with the airlines Edna worked in Gander, Goose Bay, St John’s, and Halifax. She had a deep love for this profession and made many friends within the airline family and customers over the years.
Edna’s enthusiasm for travel saw her travel the world and instilled a passion for travel in her children, especially Victoria who is continuing her mom’s legacy as a CSA with Air Canada and avid traveler. Ironically, her son Raymond has followed in his Dad’s footsteps with a career in the Coast Guard this is a testament to the love and encouragement to follow their dreams provided by Edna and Ted. Edna was so proud of her children and was blessed to witness the marriage of her daughter days before her passing.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Grand Falls Cancer Clinic, Botwood Community Care team and Red Cross for their care and support.
Due to the present restrictions with the Corona Virus pandemic there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment will take place at a later date which will be announced by the family.
