Douglas Barkley – April 7, 1932-March 11, 2019
We sadly announce the passing of Douglas Barkley at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of Orma Barkley (nee Findlay) for over 58 years. She looked after him very well all of his life, especially in his final months. Doug lived a long, happy life. He was a natural athlete. He could pitch a baseball with either hand. He excelled in all sports – hockey, tennis, curling and golf. He was exceptionally neat and orderly about all things he undertook. He was fastidious and maintained his tools, his sporting equipment and his home to a very high standard. He was well known for his gardens, demonstrating artistic flair in landscaping both at home and at work. He will be missed by his Barkley, Harper and Findlay families along with many friends and neighbours. When we see a beautiful golf course or a perfectly groomed hedge, Doug will fondly come to mind. He did many things, and he did them all very well. Until we meet again.
Funeral Arrangements
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Parker Funeral Home, 28 Sir James Morris Drive, Morrisburg on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. where the memorial service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Spring Hill Cemetery, Metcalfe.
