Mr. Doug Flook
“A life well lived”. Born, raised, lived and farmed his entire life on the 6th generation Flook family farm on the Eighth Line in Raleigh Township, Chatham, Ontario. Cherished son of the late Earl and Mildred Flook. Predeceased by his beloved wife and mother of eight children, the former Shirley Butler (1977). Doug was the loving father Brenda LeClair of Chatham, Sharron Arthurton and her husband Loris of Chatham, Elaine Flook and her partner Jari of Lindsay, Brian Flook and his wife Marylin of Chatham, Bradley Flook and his wife HoneyLea of Blenheim, Susan Drouin and her husband Gary of London. On July 19th, 1980, Doug married Dianne Parry, who brought three more children to join the Flook family, daughter Andrea Rhodes and her husband Paul of Chatham, and sons Evan Stass of Eagle and Arden Stass and his partner Ania of Windsor. Dear father-in-law of Alan Schnekenburger. Predeceased by much loved son Brent Flook December 21st, 2010 and beloved daughter Linda Flook September 25th, 2017. Cherished grandfather of Dennis (Grace), Jeff (LoriLee), Amy (Kevin), Greg (Lyndsay), Brandi, Paul (Carla), Tim, Eric (Meg), Andrea (Craig), Kaitlyn (Peter), Nic, Courtney (Pete), MacKenzie, Bryce (Rachel), Corbin, Daymin, Altanta, Olivia, Dallas, Garrett, Rylie, Rosalyn and Simon, and great grandfather of Kieran, Ayden, Mason, Jillian, Lydia, Coral, Violet, Nathan, Curtis, Sheldon, Alice, Hazel, Luke, Max, Rylan, Jane, Walter, Lucy, Adam, August, Faye, Foster, Steffano, Luca, Kaitlin, Quinn, Maise and great-great grandfather of Rylen, and Rosie. Dear brother of Allan Flook, Katherine Jackson (Ken), Marilyn Flook, and Ernie Flook (Jill). Survived by his niece Lisa and nephew Christopher. Doug quietly yet with strong conviction accomplished much in his life. He was the 2011 Inductee into the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame Lifelong, an active member of Wesley United Church Raleigh Township: Chairman of Board of Stewards, and Elder and Congregational Chairman 1960 to 1983 Board member and Chairman of the Chatham Co-op. In 1965 his received the Co-operator of the year award and in 1985 the United Co-operative of Ontario Delegate award. From 1977 to 1994 Doug was elected member of Ontario Vegetable Growers Marketing Board: Executive Member for four years and Chairman for two years. In 1994 he was named to the Ontario Crop Insurance Appeal Tribunal, in 1996 appointed to the Ontario Drainage Tribunal, in 1997 appointed to the Farm Tax Rebate Appeal Board, and in 2001 appointed to the Ontario Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal. Doug believed that by being a good steward of the land, and by leading by example, the next generation would also become excellent caretaker of the land. Doug left our world and community a better place. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 with visiting on Sunday February 16th, 2020 visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Monday February 17th, 2020 at 11 am with Pastor Andrew Gilliland officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Outreach for Hunger Chatham-Kent, and Canadian Cancer Society.
