Doreen Adelaide Power
1932-2020
Doreen of Lower Coverdale passed away peacefully at the
Moncton Hospital with her family by her side on November 7,
2020. Born in Moncton she was the daughter of the late Noel
& Vera (Downing) Steeves.
In Doreen’s early years, she worked at
Eaton’s in the jewelry department. After marrying
her soulmate, she worked closely with her husband Bill running their
business as an Independent Agent for Imperial Oil and later on Doreen
and Bill started Power Fuels where they retired from it 17 years
ago. She was a very big part of the community,
active in the church from teaching Sunday School to teller, helping
with community showers, potlucks and much more. She was
always known for her passion of Sewing, making outfits for choir,
Halloween costumes to wedding party attire. Known to many
for her sense of humor, rolling down our backyard hill in a tire to
dressing up and going in parades. She was there for
anyone. Family was Doreen’s greatest passion, she
loved having her grand children and great grand children to
visit. She was a member the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church,
4-H Alumni, and The New Brunswick Progressive Conservative
Party.
She will be sadly missed by her; daughters Crystal Blakely of
Riverview, Kelly of Lower Coverdale; sons William (Sue) of Lower
Coverdale, Lester (Shelley) of Salem and Edward (Shelly) of
Shenstone. Eleven
Grandchildren; Special Grandson Ryan (Maggie);
Tyler(Lindsey); William(Toni); Victoria(Nathan); Michael(Kristyn);
Shannon(Jesse); Evan(Kelly); Brittany(Andrew); Amanda; Samantha (Joey)
and Lindsay(Dylan) 18 Great Grandchildren; Billy;
Johnny; Hunter; Maverick; Daniel; Wyatt; Kierah; Sawyer;
Abel; Harper; Jasper; Lodien; Celisse ;Hailey; Hunter; Alyssa, Deacon
and Sydney. Several Nieces and Nephews
that were very special to « Aunt Doreen ».
Brothers; Wayne (Tanya) Steeves; Richard
(Lorna)Steeves; Sister-in-Laws; Phyllis Steeves and Mina
Steeves. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her
husband Bill; her Brothers Lotan Steeves, Winston Steeves and her
sister Lelia (Earl) Adair, and her sisters-in-law and their husbands;
Una(Bud) Steeves; Jean(Arnold) Johnson; Brother-in-law; Guy
Power and Son-in-law Daniel Blakely.
The family would like to thank the Nurses on 4600 Floor at
the Moncton City Hospital for the loving care that they gave our
mother. During the Covid Lockdown it was a comfort to us
knowing that she had a special bond with the nurses.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at
Cobb’s Funeral Home, and cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 5:00
– 6:30 PM (for seniors, those age 65 and over)
and from 6:30 – 8:00 PM for the general
public. Due to Covid 19 restrictions a private service
celebrating Doreen’s life be held at the Lower Coverdale
Baptist Church, 1121 Route 114 Lower Coverdale, NB on
Thursday, with Pastor Jodie Lebouthiller presiding. For those who are
unable to attend the service will be live streamed at youtu.be/Uv_-Mest44A
. Donations in Doreen’s memory can be made to Lower
Coverdale Baptist Church, or the Charity of the donor’s
