Donald “Don” Lawrence Elliott of Walkerton passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Ann (nee Hinsperger) for 60 years. Dedicated father of Debbie (Michael) Kerr of Guelph, Steve (Sherrie) Elliott of Walkerton, Kevin (Angela) Elliott of Walkerton, and Glenn (Lucy) Elliott of Mildmay. Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren (Kyle, Tyler, Jake, Eric, Isaac, Emily, Joshua, Madison, Emily, Lucas, Pina, Anna, Tony and Jeremy) and 4 great-grandchildren (Nathan, Autumn, Ryliegh, and Tucker).
Don was predeceased by his father John Elliott and his mother Edna (nee Willie).
Don worked as the office manager at Bogdon and Gross for over 40 years and appeared to live in an arena or at a ball diamond for much of his life. While he did not play sports, he was actively involved in Walkerton minor sports as an executive, team manager, scorekeeper and fan). His first priority was his sons’ teams where he was perhaps best known for swinging his red toque over his head each time Walkerton scored.
He was also known for his ability to make others laugh with his quick wit and the smile that always came with it. He had unlimited love and gave it freely to family and friends. When he moved into Brucelea Haven, everyone who came in contact with him quickly developed a strong bond.
Don’s family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday at the Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton (1106 Yonge Street S.) Parish prayers will be held at 3:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton (221 Victoria Street). Fr. Ed Hinsperger officiating.
Spring interment will take place at Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Cemetery, Deemerton.
