Obituary
With great sorrow the family of Dianne Marie Brewer (nee Kulchisky) of Drayton Valley, AB announces her passing. She peacefully left our world on November 10, 2020 in the Drayton Valley Hospital with her family by her side. A private memorial service will be held at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Drayton Valley on November 18, 2020. A Celebration of Life near Jasper is planned for 2021; we would like to extend the invitation for those who can, to please join us next year.
Dianne was born on June 14, 1953 to Walter and Mary Kulchisky in Edmonton, AB. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers: Neil and Greg; parents-in-law: Dick and Edith Brewer, and brother in-law: Jim. Dianne is survived by: her husband, Bryan; their three children: Jennifer (Andrew), Matthew (Carol), Amanda (Brian); five grandchildren: Taylor, Gage, Dezmin, Daegan, Elliot; one great-grandchild: Genessy; three siblings: Carol, Ted, Val; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, other family members and a multitude of friends. Dianne will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
On June 15, 1972 at an Edmonton Dairy Queen Dianne met the man who, nine years later, became her husband. Bryan and Dianne were married on October 10, 1981 and became parents the following July. Two more children followed in the next six years. Dianne held her role as a mom in high regards often saying, “Being a mom is a privilege, not a right. It’s the best job in the world.” And she did the best job at it! Dianne was a strong woman who kept her faith, sense of humor, and youthful spirit unwavering throughout her life, even in her final days. She was the epitome of a true friend, going out of her way to help in any way she could. She enjoyed many activities from crafting and sewing to road trips and soaking in the hot springs, reading and colouring to going out for food and to the movies, attending concerts and football games to sitting by a bonfire and traveling the globe, but she cherished spending time with her loved ones the most, regardless of the activity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dianne’s name to either the Drayton Valley Hospital Foundation, as they provided wonderful care for the duration of her time with them, or the Stollery Children’s Hospital, as it was one of Dianne’s favourite charities.
The family would like to extend a giant thank you to all the medical teams that were involved in her care; to Dr. Ayotte, the Cancer Care Center and Palliative Care team at the Drayton Valley hospital we will be forever grateful to you all for taking such good care of our mom and wife. She had nothing but great things to say about you all.
“How lucky we are that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -Dianne Brewer
