Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend and “Pizza Guy”, David Grant Dowler of Wetaskiwin, on April 1, 2020 at the age of 56. David is survived by his mother, Audrey, his brother George, sister Tami and brother in law, Greg, his nephews Jordan (wife Larisse and son, Lowen), Braydon, Tim and Casey and nieces Davis and Abby. He will be missed by his many friends, business associates and employees, who remember David as one of the most generous and selfless people they had ever met.
David was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on October 1, 1963. Entrepreneurial from a very young age, David began working with Boston Pizza International at the age of 16 before moving to Alberta to continue with the company. He acquired the BP franchise in Wetaskiwin and later as a part owner of the restaurant in Drayton Valley. Dave loved playing golf, working on crosswords alongside his Mom, pinball and the music of Elton John. A long time member of the Wetaskiwin Chamber of Commerce, Dave was always first to support local charities and their events in town. If there was a fundraiser, you were sure to find David serving hot dogs in support.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to either Wetaskiwin Catholic Social Services or The First United Church Wetaskiwin.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the future. Pizza will be served.
