Dane Drobac 2020

Dane was born in Gracac in the former Yugoslavia on January 14, 1927 and died in Windsor on December18, 2020 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Meleva. Dear father of Bogdana and Vera. Predeceased by his parents Ilija and Marta and his brother Petar. Dane is survived by his cousins and nieces in the former Yugoslavia.
Dane fought in WWII as a Cetnik at the age of 15. He left his country for good on December 4, 1944. After surviving various POW camps in Italy and Germany, Dane eventually went to the United Kingdom, working in a coal mine in Wales. During this time, he tried to obtain citizenship in Australia, USA and then was accepted in Canada in 1951. Dane arrived in Canada on Christmas day in 1951 at St. John’s Newfoundland, where he eventually made his way to Windsor. During his years in Windsor, he was founder of Grachanica Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church at Tecumseh and Meldrum, as well as a founding member of St. Dimitrije Serbian Orthodox Church on Semonile, where he was a member. He married Mileva Kesic on November 23, 1963. During his life, people knew him as a kind, generous, loving man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was highly respected and loved. He had a good life and was always there for his family, both here and abroad. He was always willing to help anyone without even asking. He was a loving husband and a wonderful, wonderful father. His death was sudden, both quick and unexpected. He will be greatly missed by his family here and abroad and also by the Serbian Community here in Windsor. He was involved in many Chetniks Organizations in Windsor.
If you so desire, donations to St. Dimitrije Serbian Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family.
