Dale Robinson 19402020

Dale Robinson
1940-2020
Dale Stanley Robinson, June 21, 1940 – April 24, 2020.
Dale was born to Silas and Myrtle (Caudle) Robinson in Halifax, the
second of four children. He grew up mainly in Walton, NS where his
father’s family had settled. It was here that he learned to
fish and hunt. He had a real love of and respect for nature, always
spotting traces of animals and eagle’s nests wherever he
went.
Dale will be dearly missed by so many, his children: Stephen,
Toronto, ON; Bonnie, Lower Sackville; Janice (Chris) Park, Calgary,
AB; granddaughters Claire and Sarah Park;
‘Adopted’ daughter, Amber O’Connor
(Simon Cosh) and ‘the boys’ Drake, Draven, and
Daegan; his sister, Lois Padley; nieces: Tanya (Peter) Dawson; Marsha
Robinson; nephew, Trevor (Jyl) Robinson; and three great-nephews and
one great-niece; also so many family members on his wife
Sandra’s side we can’t begin to name them, he
cared so much for all of you.
He loved being a dad and was a real family guy. Back in the
day, if the phone rang twice then stopped on a weekend morning, he
would gather food, gear, Sandra and the kids and head to his favourite
place, THE CAMP, to meet the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dale was happiest when he was in the woods chopping firewood and
cooking up a ‘good feed’. He made great meals over
a fire, camp stove or BBQ. His rib feasts will be especially
missed.
As a dad he taught us about love. We remember at the end of
each workday, dad would drive home from Michelin and as he came
through the door we would clamber to be first to greet him, even the
family dog. After hugging and greeting each of us in turn he went
straight into the kitchen to give our mom a kiss before changing from
his dress suit for dinner.
Dale’s personality might best be summed up in that
he always took his time and always had time for those in his life.
Time to sit after dinner and have a long coffee break with Sandra.
Time to take a long drive and look at the Cormorants in Pictou
Harbour. Time to grab a beer and talk about cars with Stephen. Time to
get the canoe out and explore a Pictou County river with Janice. Time
to sit and chat and wait for visits from the deer and crows with
Bonnie. Time to take Amber for driving practice. He was so proud when
she got her license. Time to show Claire and Sarah how to play games
on the old computer and give them chocolate treats he’d
stashed away for them. To take them on an overnight trip to the old
camp and share his experiences in nature with them. They so love their
‘grandydad’. Time to play a few hands of cards
with long-time friends ‘The Poker Kings’. For over
30 years these guys would gather and Dale looked forward to every game
and later, the meals and visits.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra (Keddy)
Robinson; his parents, Silas and Myrtle Robinson; his brothers, Carl
and Ward Robinson, and dear friend Jeannie.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation at this time. A
celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in
Dale’s name can be made to the Canadian Diabetes or to the
Aberdeen Palliative Care in New Glasgow, NS. Arrangements are under
the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
