Obituary of Conni ATTWELL
Conni Attwell nee Adams
June 2, 1932 – November 16, 2020
Predeceased by mother, father, brothers Bob and Jack and sister Dorothy.
Conni was born in the south side of Glasgow, Scotland and at 14 years of age she moved with her family to Edinburgh, Scotland.
Eldest of 4 children born to Jack and Helen (aka Dolly)Adams. Conni’s parents were musicians in Variety Theatre and went by the names of Jack and Dolly Ramon. Conni was also in Variety Theatre performing as a dancer and was also known as Conni Ramon.
Conni emigrated to Toronto, Ontario Canada around 1954 where she met and married Michael Charles Attwell and raised 4 children, Julie Kent (Rob) (Mills) nee Attwell, Michael Attwell (Heidi), Janice Attwell and Graham Attwell (Jean).
Conni lived life to the fullest and at 63 years of age she moved to Vancouver Island, Victoria British Columbia, Canada with her daughter Janice. Conni was very involved in the community volunteering in Sidney BC, and for the last 10 years at The James Bay Beacon Community Newspaper in James Bay Victoria.
She kept up theatre work appearing in and producing shows for The New Horizons Activity Centre. Conni also appeared in a number of posters, ads, commercials and short film productions.
Her main involvement tho was with her daughter Janice who has Downs Syndrome. Janice was well looked after by her mother and Becon Community Services at Parkside House and Tamarack House.
Conni was very proud of her children, grandchildren Jennifer Mills (Andrew Tenner), Jessica Mills (Abe Brookes), Jacqueline Mills, Micheal Attwell and Corey Attwell, and her great grandchildren, Nevaeh Mills, Kinslee Attwell, Julian Tenner and Felix Brookes.
Conni was supported by her sister Dorri and her husband Duncan Gibson in Victoria and also by her children and many many friends.
She had many adventures in life and she wished to thank God for allowing her to live her life the way she did.
Conni will be missed by many friends and family and leaves us with this thought
“I did the best I could”.
As per Conni’s wishes cremation has taken place. Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of life will take place at a later date to be announced.
