Obituary of Cleve Pendleton
It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Arthur Cleveland “Cleve” Pendleton, husband of Dorothy (Henderson) Pendleton, announce his passing on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Lubec, Maine, on July 22, 1935, he was a son of the late George and Elta (Barteau) Pendleton. Cleve attended Deer Island Regional School, graduating as Valedictorian, he then attended Teacher’s College, graduating in 1954. Cleve was employed with NBTel, where he held many positions including the pioneer of internet data until his retirement after 35 years. After retirement, he worked as a consultant for small businesses. He was a member of Rothesay Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School, as well as volunteering in many different ministries. He volunteered with the Saint John Learning Exchange. Cleve enjoyed writing, having completing several novels and published articles. He had a knack for storytelling, in which his grandchildren adored the stories of “Bubba Monster” and “Sidehill Gouger”. Cleve was a gentle and kind soul, he adored his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife of 62 years, Cleve is survived by his children; Cheryl Knepper (Ivan), Steve Pendleton (Johanne) both of Arkansas, and Lisa Pendleton of Rothesay, grandchildren; Jennifer Wells (Kevin), Kelly Grundy (James), Sarah Haycox, Spencer Haycox, great grandchildren; Beatrix Wells, Henry Wells, Ivy Grundy, and Toby Grundy, as well as several extended family.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A private memorial service, celebrating Cleve’s life will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 2PM. Those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on Cleve’s obituary at www.kennebecasisfh.com . For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
