Christa Jane Edwards
December 28, 1978 to May 19, 2020
Christa’s family are heart-broken to announce that she passed away at the U of A Hospital following some severe health challenges over the past several months. She is survived by loving parents- Gordon and Doris Edwards; her fiancé- Brent Purin; and three brothers – Jason (Jasmine), Graham and Chad (Ashley). Christa was also loved by nephews Lucas and Jackson Edwards and her late grandparents- Henry and Florence Mattis; Charlie and Edith Edwards.
Christa was born at Hanna, AB and was a special 1978 Christmas gift for her family; and she was named accordingly. Our beautiful and thoughtful little girl showed strong academic ability and a flair for drawing at an early age and completed all of her education in Edmonton. After graduating from high school with honours, she attended the U of A studying biological sciences in addition to as many visual arts courses that she was able to fit into to her studies. Christa’s primary interests always tilted more towards her artistic side and she truly enjoyed spending time painting and being creative. Nobody was surprised when she chose to spend several years working as a talented graphic designer and communications specialist.
Christa brought a positive energy to many through her lovely and empathetic soul; and became a true soulmate to Brent. Christa and Brent met her recent health challenges with amazing strength and courage. Our family will also be forever grateful for the wonderful care that many health professionals provided to Christa, especially those staff at the U of A and Glenrose Hospitals.
Her loved ones ask that you consider making a donation to a hospital foundation of your personal choice or to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
The current pandemic precludes a large service so Brent and the Edwards family will be celebrating Christa’s life at a small private gathering.
