Boutilier, Cecil Douglas – Age 80, of Lake Charlotte, died peacefully at home on January 4, 2020. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Gertrude (Helpard) and Emmett Boutilier.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley (Orman); son, Timmy (Cindy), Halifax; daughters, Angela DeWolfe, Halifax; and Sandra Fyfe (Jim), Wolfville; granddaughters; Jillian (Greg), Brianna (Nick), Emma, and Selena (who also called him Grampy); grandsons; Charles, Justin, Jason, Alec, Dylan, Clark and Lucas; great-granddaughter; Payton; brother, James (Lorraine); sisters; Diane, Velda (Clyde), and Sedella; brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by son, Wayne; brothers; Stanley, Howard, Duncan, John, Michael and Chris; sisters; Ida, Cora, Frances, Margaret, Mary Alice and Rose.
Cecil was a construction worker, and then foreman, for most of his life, until back injuries prevented him from continuing that work. He loved hunting and fishing, and felt at home in the outdoors. He was an avid birdwatcher and pet-lover, who grieved over the recent death of their beloved Yorkie, Benji. Cecil loved playing cards and bingo, and managed to remain cheerful and smiling in spite of many health challenges and advancing vascular dementia. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral will be held in St. John’s Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, on Saturday, January 11th at 11 a.m., with Rev Andrew Mortimer officiating. Reception to follow in the dining room of Webber’s Store. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Cecil’s memory to the SPCA.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Paulette Smith for supporting Shirley in caring for Cecil, as well as Dr. Fargoso, homecare workers, and palliative care nurses from Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, all of whom made it possible for Cecil to remain at home until his death. We will always be grateful for your kindness and compassion in our time of need.
