Obituary of Bruce William Kriter
Surrounded by the love of his family, on August 17th, 2020 at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, following a courageous battle with complications from Parkinson’s Disease, Bruce William Kriter, of Rodney, passed away in his 92nd year.
Dearly loved husband of Margaret Velma Kriter (née Carnie) for nearly 67 years.
Cherished father of Donald Kevin Kriter (Irene) and Carol Ann Mistele.
Loving grandfather of Matthew Mistele, Amanda Inglis (Ash), Hillary Callowhill (James), Kimberly Kriter and Erik Kriter.
Special “Great Papa” to Addison Callowhill and Quinley Inglis.
Beloved brother of Jane McColl (Sandy) and brother-in-law of Jean Fleming. Missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his brother Donald Wray Kriter (1951), his son-in-law Paul Mistele (2008) and his brother-in-law Neil Fleming (2019).
Bruce was born on May 16, 1929 to parents Reuben Kriter (1956) and Mabel (née Smith)(2001) at the family farm in Aldborough Township where he was a proud and dedicated farmer for his entire life. Along with his wife Velma, whom he married in 1953, he taught his family the value of a good day’s work and to appreciate the merits of a job well done. Bruce was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and later Calvary United Church in Rodney. He was a member of the Rodney/Aldborough Fair Board for a number of years.
A private family service will be held with interment in Rodney Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Bobier Villa for their compassionate care of Bruce over the past five years and to Dr. Michael Cheng for his professional care during Bruce’s illness. Also, thanks to the 5th Floor staff at STEGH for their compassion towards Bruce and his family.
