Obituary
After a hard fought and very courageous battle with cancer, Betty Joan (Grant) Arseneault passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 18, 2020. She was born in Canterbury, NB on August 21, 1940 to the late Edward and Hazel (Ingram) Grant and was the loving wife of 58 years to husband Larry, who passed away in 2016.
Betty enjoyed many varied careers throughout the years, from working at Red Rose Tea to working in the cafeteria at the Telegraph Journal to ending with many years working in home health care for Comcare before retiring. Betty and Larry spent many years camping at Wally’s Campground in Cambridge Narrows and any chance they had they enjoyed going for long drives and exploring, travelling across Canada, and taking random shopping trips down to Bangor. She was a very faithful person who attended church every week, even when her health should have prevented her, and only stopped going when she physically could no longer. She was a quiet woman, but she could speak her mind when she needed to. Betty was a very family-oriented person who insisted that the family all got together for holiday meals and birthday suppers. She was a wonderful mother but shone so brightly as a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren with everything she had. Betty lived her life to the fullest even through the hardships she faced. She was taken far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Kim and Lori (Paul); 4 grandchildren, Patrick (Kelsie), Curtis (Laura), Danielle (Michael) and Connor (Anna); 3 great grandchildren, Blake, Nolan and Fallon; sisters, Geraldine (Glen), Nadine (Frank) and Evelyn; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Willard, Ruth, Ray and Elva.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 10am to 12pm with a funeral service to follow. In following Public Health Protocols, seating will be limited by a first come first serve basis up to 100 attendees in order to maintain and practice social distancing. For those who wish, donations in her memory to the SPCA Animal Rescue League to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
