Bernard Touesnard
1947-2020
It’s with heavy hearts that we
announce the passing of Bernie Touesnard of Riverview who passed away
at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Born in Annapolis
Royal, NS, he was the son of the late Ernest and Eleanor (Profit)
Touesnard. Bernie spent his entire working career with the federal
government in the department of agriculture. He was a man that loved
to give his time and energy to the countless organization, charities
and people in need. Most notably, he approached each day with an
incredible strength and positive attitude.
Lion Bernie was a devoted member of the Riverview Lions Club
and would have celebrated 40 years of dedication in service with Lions
Clubs International. In appreciation for his service, Lion
Bernie was awarded a Life Membership with Lions International, a
Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, a Lions Foundation of Canada Fellowship
Award and various Presidents Appreciation
Awards. He was a very active member of the
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus
where he served in many leadership positions in both the 3rd
degree and 4th degree. He was a Past Grand Knight of Council 9270 at

Prevention Committee and youth sports. In 2015, he was
awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. Bernie, along
with his wife Merna, were avid fans and supporters of the Moncton
Wildcats organization. They took in billets and he proudly worked the
clock at all their home games for several years.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Merna, son, Todd
(Nikki) of San Francisco, grandchildren; Beatrice (Bea) and Weston as
well as his many friends and his community of Riverview. Due to the
current Covid -19 crisis, visitation and a funeral mass celebrating
his life and accomplishments will be held at a later date. The
arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (869-2007). Donations to
the local MS Society, Riverview Boy’s and Girls Club or the Moncton
SPCA would be appreciated by his
family. Online condolences and a complete obituary can be viewed
