Barbara Diane Perry
1951-2019
It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of
Barbara Diane Perry, age 68 of Monastery, on December 31, 2019 who
died surrounded by her loving family.
Born
and raised in Monastery, she was one of sixteen children of the late
Edward and Martha (Bowie) DeCoste.
Known for
her hardworking hands, she proudly fished alongside her husband and
subsequently her son for more than 25 years.
A devoted «Nanny», her face would light up
every time she spoke of or spent time with her grandchildren. From
Calgary to the Shore, she took every opportunity to be with her family
and took pleasure in being teased about her unique East Coast slang.
She was heartbroken with the loss of her grandson Craig, but we find
comfort by knowing they have been reunited.
Barb loved a good card game and was known by her playing
circle to rattle the table when she dropped down the winning
Ace.
She will be immensely missed by everyone she knew for her
unconditional love, humble and selfless personality, and her
quick-witted humour.
She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Roy; son
Shawn (Sandi), Tracadie; daughter, Kimberly (Christian), Calgary;
grandchildren, Lucas, Caleb, and Paige; sisters, Shirley (William)
Boudreau, Lila Beshong, Florence (Clifford) Boudreau, Muriel Gorman,
and Theresa DeCoste; brothers, Lloyd (Shirley), Eddie (Margaret),
Gerald, and Eugene (Eleanor).
Predeceased by
her grandson Craig; brothers, Vincent, Ralph, and Ronnie; sisters,
Stella, Gloria, and Gladys; as well as several sister and brothers
in-law.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 PM in C.L Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St.,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 AM in
St. Peters Church, Tracadie, NS, with Fr. John Barry and Fr. Danny
Boudreau presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
