Arnold Andrew (Buzzie) McKay
1935-2020
Arnold Andrew (Buzzie) McKay, husband of Gail Matchett of Miramichi, NB formerly of Whitney, NB, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 21st, 2020 at the age of 84. Born in Whitney, NB, Arnold is the son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Peters) McKay.
Buzzie was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Miramichi Valley Snowmobile Club. He was also a retired truck driver.
Buzzie is survived by his wife: Gail Matchett, three daughters: Carol Anne of Grand Prairie, AB, Angela Sturgeon (Jeremy) of Quarryville, NB and Krista Matchett of Millerton, NB; one son: Larry McKay (Lynn) of Red Deer, AB; one sister: Marjorie Scott of Dartmouth, NS; five grandchildren: Dareth O’Brien, Abby Sturgeon, Karly Peterson, Kristopher McKay and Andrew McKay; two great grandchildren: Alyssa Parks and Ashur McKay as well as several nieces and nephews.
Buzzie is predeceased by his parents: Charles and Myrtle (Peters) McKay; wife: Nan McKay and one daughter: Dawn.
A public visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, on Wednesday, November 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A private funeral service will be held from The Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place in St. Philip’s United Church Cemetery. Social distancing as well as the use of masks are mandatory at the visitation.
As expressions of sympathy, in Arnold’s memory, donations may be made to Hospice Miramichi, the Extra Mural Program or St. Philip’s United Church Cemetery, Whitney.
