1927-2020
Neynens, Anna Emelie (VanRoy),
West Lake Ainslie. Born on May 28, 1927, in Tungelroy,
Netherlands, Emelie passed away peacefully with her family by her side
on Monday, March 2, 2020, in the Inverness Memorial
Hospital.
Emelie and her husband, Harry immigrated to Canada in 1952
through Pier 21. They settled in Cape Breton where they
raised their ten children. Emelie’s passion was raising her
children. She enjoyed knitting and gardening. She
is survived by her husband, Harry; daughters, Maria McKenna (Peter),
Catherine Nissen (Peter), Emilie MacDonnell (David), Harriet Neynens
(Geza Szenes), Barbara Bryden (Ken) and sons, Martin, Jim (Sandra
MacMaster), Harry (Colleen), and George; 20 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren. Emelie was predeceased by her son,
Johnny.
Visitation will begin 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, in
Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, West Lake Ainslie.
Funeral mass will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bernie MacDonald and Rev.
Danny MacLennan officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later
date.
