Micus, Alma Elizabeth ‘Connie’
Peacefully, at Carleton Lodge, in her 95th year. Loved wife of the late Peter and loved Mom to Allen (late Mary) and Stephanie Adams (Chris). Proud Nana to Peter (Libby) and Katie Torresan. Daughter of the late Arthur and Cecilia Conrad. Sister of Rita Valiquette, Geralda Hinschberger, Lorne (Grace), Maurice (Yvonne), Lloyd (late Onide), Desmond (Claudette), Walter (Brenda),Stephen (Elaine) and the late Clarence, Louise, Mervyn. Alma will be forever remembered by Shirley , Irene, Saara and the Mikus family. She was known as Auntie Alma or Auntie Connie to many nieces and nephews from both families. Mom was a dedicated teacher, beginning her career at 18 years of age at White River Public School. She also met Peter there and they married in 1947. She later became a teaching Principal at St. Basil’s School in White River. When the family moved to Ottawa she continued as a teacher at Our Lady of Good Counsel school and then at Frank Ryan School until her retirement. She was active in her retirement, in Bonfield and then in the Pine Hill Community in Kanata, teaching and participating in line dancing, and playing darts and euchre. She was an artist in her own right, exploring and creating in sketching and painting, using oil and water colours. She also was a fiercely loyal Ottawa Senators fan and loved going to their games for many years. The family is grateful to the staff of Carleton Lodge for their loving care of Connie, in her final years with them. Our special thanks to Kim Carrington, who provided loving companion care to Mom for the last 5 years. Mom missed Dad immensely since his passing in 2003. They are now reunited and he can tease her incessantly once again. Rest peacefully Mom, until we all meet again. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass, at St. Patrick’s Church, Fallowfield, when COVID restrictions, permit. Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa-Renfrew, 1400 Clyde Ave #222, Nepean, ON K2G 3J2 or to Carleton Lodge, 55 Lodge Rd, Nepean, ON K2C 3H1 would be appreciated.
