Obituary of Thomas Anthony McKay
Thomas Anthony McKay, Stellarton
Thomas Anthony McKay age 72 of Valley View Villa, Riverton formerly of Bridge Ave., Stellarton passed away on December 23rd, 2019 in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Glasgow, Scotland he was a son of the late Thomas and Barbara (Maxwell) McKay.
Tom moved to Canada in 1970 and lived in Stellarton since 1984. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church for 45 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Tom loved Soccer, or as he called it football; a passionate Glasgow Celtics supporter. He loved all music, especially the old Irish tunes. He was an excellent provider for his family and worked as a carpenter at Trenton Works for 32 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Teresa (nee Farquhar), children Martine McKay (Brad), Northwest Territories; Michael McKay (Enid), Florida; Loretta McKay (Darren), Calgary; Erin McKay, Stellarton; grandchildren Danielle, Keely, Braeden, Emma, Lucas, Liam and his granddog, Leo; sisters Margaret, Helen and Barbara all of Scotland; Geraldine, Australia; brothers Danny, Australia and Martin, England.
He was predeceased by a brother Thaddeus.
Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Friday, December 27, 2019 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimer Society Canada.
