Smith, Clara
Clara Isabel Smith (nee Hiltz), of Durham and formerly of Priceville, passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services, Markdale on Thursday, December 26th 2019 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Alex Smith. Loving mother of Anne and her husband Lorne Foster, Trudi and her husband Rey Gagnon, Mary and her husband Doug Hutchinson, Ruth and her husband Ken Downs, Gord Smith and his wife Vicki, and Bob Smith and his wife Cathy. Cherished grandmother and “Apple Granny” to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Elma Koertz, Velma McConnell, and Betty Allen and her husband Cliff. Predeceased by her infant son Donnie, her grandsons Thomas Smith and Ben Foster, her daughter-in-law Linda Smith, and her siblings Vera Ganton, Dorothy McKinnon, Lorne Hiltz, Leona Watson, Eleanor Clydesdale, Earl Hiltz, Emerson Hiltz, and Ken Hiltz.
Celebration of Life::
A funeral service celebrating Clara’s life will be held at the Durham Community Centre, 451 Saddler Street West, Durham on Saturday, December 28th, 2019 at 1 p.m., with visitation being held prior to the service from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Spring interment at McNeil Cemetery, Priceville.
