Ruby Margaret McLean (VanBuskirk)
McLean, Ruby Margaret (VanBuskirk) – 90, Truro, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in South Pugwash on September 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Bears) VanBuskirk. Ruby loved the outdoors. She enjoyed her home and outdoor life especially gardening and flowers – her favorite gift to receive being yellow roses. She loved singing and dancing and was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Choir as well as the Happy Harmonies. She was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Truro. Ruby had a great love for her friends and family and will indeed be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughters, Paulette (Donald) Mattinson, Middle Stewiacke, Darlene (Ian) Conway, Middle Stewiacke; son, Roderick (Teresa) Higgins, Truro; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Charles McLean; son, Ray Douglas Higgins; brothers, Jamesley, Harris, Tom and Roderick VanBuskirk; sister, Jeanetta Webb.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 1st from 6-8pm with a Royal Canadian Legion #26 Service beginning at 6 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2nd at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., Truro, Fr. Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall.
