ROSE STEMKOSKI
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Stemkoski on December 11, 2019 with her family by her side.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Walter in 1999, and her daughter Donna in 2005. Rose is survived by her son Bruce (Nancy), and granddaughter Vicky Gielas (Grant), sister, Helen Oneschuk (Paul) and brother, Larry Yakimovich (Ellen).
Rose was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1926 and was raised on a small farm in Narol, Manitoba.
After marrying Walter in 1946, they operated a grocery store and farm in Narol for 46 years. The classic multi-tasker, Rose was always gardening, storekeeping, attending church, cooking and raising a family. Rose enjoyed travelling abroad, socializing and visiting her many friends, especially with her late companion Everett Mulder. Her passion for people and humour brightened friendships.
Rose’s lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith and the Corpus Christi Parish was always a top priority. Rose was an active parishioner, volunteer, communion server, fund raiser and senior Catholic Women’s League member throughout her years. She was always generous to people in need.
Always energetic and in remarkable health, Rose enjoyed participation in many senior activities and clubs including bowling, biking, swimming, travel and campaigning. Enabled by her faith, strength and determination, Rose was very independent, resourceful and ready to tackle any challenge.
Rose was blessed to have courage and an outgoing personality to ninety – three years. Her secret to longevity was “prayer to God” and to help others.
A funeral mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church 5819 Henderson Hwy., on Monday December 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
