COMEAU, Maria – Age 86, of St. Martin, Nova Scotia, Canada passed away peacefully with members of her family by her side, Thursday, December 5, 2019, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born May 24, 1933, in Meteghan, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (d’Entremont) Robichaud. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was sister to Lucille, Hector, and Gus. She is predeceased by her sisters; Anita and Jeanette, brothers; Gerald, Norbert, Gustave and Nil.
Maria was the devoted wife of the late J. Emile Comeau, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. As a newlywed, she moved to the Boston area in 1957 to raise a family, only to return to Clare to enjoy her golden years. Maria loved spending time in her garden, which was one of her true passions in life.
She was the beloved mother to daughter, Jeanette (Jeffrey) Freedman, Swampscott, MA; sons, James (Joan), Ipswich, MA; and John, East Kingston, NH.
Loving grandmother to Lauren, Alana, Tristan and Belle.
She leaves many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Her family would like to thank very close relatives, neighbors and friends who provided care and comfort in her last days. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2020 at the Stella Maris Cemetery, Meteghan Centre, at a date and time to be determined.
