Obituary for Laurie Ruth Wishart
Passed peacefully, surrounded by her family. She is deeply missed by her husband Tim Lee, her children Gillian, Andrea, and Lynley Swanson, Sinah and Kevin Lee, and seven grandchildren, William, Violet, Hannah, Alison, George, Alyssa and Marion. Laurie also leaves her brother (David Wishart) and sister (Jean Woolford) and numerous nephews and nieces.
A perfect day was on the golf course with Tim or on the deck at the cottage surrounded by family, martini in hand. She was kind and generous with a love of good food and music. Anyone who met Laurie knew her warmth and genuine curiosity. She connected on a personal level with loons at the cottage.
Born in Peterborough, Laurie graduated from the University of Toronto as a Physical & Occupational Therapist, later completing a Masters degree and a PhD at McMaster University. She served in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean. A beloved teacher and colleague, she was passionate about physiotherapy beyond the office. Laurie was revered for her mentoring skills to many young scholars.
