Joyce’s Obituary
Anderson, Joyce Marie (Smith) – 86, of Bay Vista, Barrington Passage, formally of Newellton, C.S.I. It is with great sadness the family would like to announce her peaceful passing on December 1, 2019 in Roseway Hospital. Joyce was born on Cape Negro Island, August 25, 1933, to parents, John Smith and Alda (Bly). Joyce is the youngest and last member of her immediate family. She was brought up in a very loving family. As being the baby she got spoiled by all the older siblings. Not with things, but with love and comfort, support of family. Joyce loved playing bingo and cards. She spent lots of time “DOWN AT THE COVE” playing cards with the Ossingers. She worked in the salt fish plant in Newellton for many years, then as a cook at a local take-out. She volunteered at the Newellton Community Hall serving lobster chowder dinners. Joyce loved music and playing guitar. Joyce and Charlie where married for 58 years. She loved when family gathered for special occasions or no occasion at all. Her grandchildren were something she looked forward to; always asking about each and every one, great grandchildren was a step above all others. She had so much love for them. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Sylvester Newell) of Barrington; Andrea (Robert Nickerson) and Helen (Garry Swinimer) both of Newellton; grandchildren, Clifford, Bobby, Joey, Amanda and Kristy; great grandchildren, Danika, Tori, Nina and Jalena; several nieces and nephews. Joyce is predeceased by her parents and husband, Charles; brothers, Daniel, Chester, Lawrence, Alpheus and infant, Donald; sisters, Margaret, Regina and Stella; special friend, Murray Ossinger. A special thanks goes out to the Dr’s and staff at Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. The RN’s and LPN’s went above and beyond to give her the care and comfort she needed. Thank you all so much. Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Tuesday December 3, at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be on Wednesday December 4 at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington at 2 pm. No flowers by request. Donations may be made in her memory to Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or a charity of your choice.
