Frank was born on August 20, 1940 at Pound Cove, NL to Abel & Alfreda Hounsell. At a young age Frank taught school for four years before deciding to pursue a Diploma in Food Technology at the College of Fisheries. Frank later joined the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a Fisheries Inspector where he later retired in 1997. Frank married Diana Pond in 1967 and in their married life lived in St. John’s, Valleyfield, Grand Falls-Windsor and Mount Pearl. They had 46 wonderful years of marriage surrounded by three beautiful children, Gail, Paul and Wendy. Frank had a large network of friends and family who meant so much to him. Frank was ‘a do-er’ – he was deeply community and church minded having been extensively involved in the Lions Club since 1971 serving on the local and provincial levels, Chairman of the Cape Freels School Board for 10 years, Warden and Treasurer of the Church, involved with the Canadian Bible Society, and Alpha among many other involvements. Frank was a man of integrity, conviction and was always willing to stand up for what he believed in with an open and straight forward approach. He loved to discuss politics and religion and enjoyed being in the great outdoors berry-picking, trouting, and moose hunting. He enjoyed his summer home in Lumsden, tending to a small garden and enjoyed the company of his many friends around the table enjoying a good meal and a yarn. Frank will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt.
