Obituary for
Darrell Ostapek
On December 25, 2019, Darrell Ostapek passed away at the age of 63 years.
Darrell is survived by his loving family: mother, Alma; brothers, William (Anita) and Kevin; nieces, Stephanie, Danielle and Nicole, whom he loved very much; his dear friends, Randy Pawl and Gordy Cameron; as well as numerous other extended relatives and friends. Predeceased by his father, Russell.
Although Darrell lived with a disability, his life had been extremely full; he was active, tough and faced challenges without his spirit ever wavering. Darrell will be remembered for his incredibly generous spirit, love of Jazz, food, and spending time with people. He had a passion for local music and theatre, having volunteered for many years with the Fringe Festival and Yardbird Suite. Darrell will be greatly missed.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Misericordia Community Hospital on Units 7 and 8 East for the care they provided to Darrell in his last weeks; as well as to the Lewis Estates Retirement Residence, which was home for the past few years.
Memorial Service Monday, December 30 at 9:30 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Inurnment in Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made directly to the Northern Alberta Brain Injury Society, #305, 11010 – 101 Street, Edmonton, AB T5H 4B9.
