1933-2019
Close, Earl, 86, Bible Hill, NS, passed away Saturday,
December 14th 2019, at home with his family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late James and Ida (Chadwick)
Close. Earl was a linesman/technician with Maritime Tel & Tel
for 42 years. Earl also obtained his private pilot licence and enjoyed
flying. Woodworking was also one of his many joys.
He is survived by his wife Ethel (Wall) Close; Son, Curtis
Close, Whitney Peer; daughters, Catherine (Michael) Bendixen, Danmark,
Melody Butler, Truro; grandchildren, Leona Close, Jennifer Close,
Christopher Butler, Ariana Zwicker, and Chloe Zwicker; sister Sarah
MacNeil, Sydney; brothers, George Close, Bedford and Clarence Close,
Glace Bay; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by brothers, John and James; sisters, Estelle and Ida.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where a private family
service will take place on Monday, Dec. 23rd at 11 am. the Reverend
Lori Ramsey will officiate with burial to take place at a later date.
Donations in memory may be made to the Colchester Food Bank. A special
thank you to Dr. Robert Graham, Dr J.D. Henderson, Angela MacDonnell
(RN) and the Palliative Care Team for their wonderful support and care
given to Earl. Also a thank you to The VON and the CCAs for their
