Brigitte Peschke
Brigitte Peschke was born in 1929 in Lubeck Germany. She passed away peacefully on
December 11th 2019. She is survived by her son, Christopher Peschke, her daughter Stephanie Peschke, her daughter in law Vivienne Peschke, niece Karin Peschke, brother in law Peter Peschke, nephews Gerald, Heino, and Oliver Brandt, Stefan and Olaf Teschke.
She was 10 when WW2 began and 16 when it ended. She loved marzipan, animals and the family German Sheppard named Rolf.
She studied languages, with a hope to travel and learn about new cultures. She worked for the US Embassy in Bonn Germany, where she met her husband, Joe. He had applied to move to Canada, he asked her to come with him. She was accepted before him, when she asked how they could go together, they said, get married. They did. Arriving in Montreal in 1955, Brigitte spent a number of years working at the Canadian National Railway and as a substitute teacher. They worked hard for many years before having 2 children. Widowed in 1985, she moved to Vancouver, BC after a visit and falling in love with the sea and mountains.
Brigitte was a proud Canadian, passionate about politics, believing in the values Canadians hold dear, democracy, equality, and freedom of speech. She raised her children with these values.
We will dedicate my father’s (who died in 1985) and my mother’s ashes to the sea, as was their wish, both growing up near the Baltic, sometime in 2020.
We give our thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Windermere Care Centre, who made her last days more comfortable with their professional and kind care.
Many thanks to all their friends and loved ones,
Family Peschke
