The Lord called unto Himself our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Bert from Anson Place Care Centre, Hagersville on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, 1 day after his 89th birthday. Bert VanderVeen of Hagersville was the beloved husband of Dixie (nee Zylstra) for nearly 64 years. Loving father and grandfather of Margaret (Ed) Houwer (the late Ken Houwer; Jackie and Henk Lise, Kevin and Carolyn Houwer, James and Sherrie Houwer), Henry (Ann) Vanderveen (Michelle and Adam Fairman, Rebecca and Clinton DeGelder, Steven and Crystal VanderVeen, Darlene Hoover and Shawn Sohm), Joanne (Arnie) DeBoer (Trevor and Rachel DeBoer, Tim and Stephanie DeBoer, Tracy and Bob Burgess, Dusty DeBoer), Sandy (Mike) Stock Charlie and Meghan Elgersma, the late Robbie Elgersma, Karen and Matt Kerkhoff, Julie and Kevin Wierenga, Selena Elgersma, Melissa Elgersma), Linda Doucette (Matthew, Laura, Katie and Jessica Doucette) and Judy (Gerard) DeGelder (Jake, Emily and Sarah DeGelder). Dear great grandfather of 32 great grandchildren. Visitation for Bert will be held at Rehoboth United Reformed Church, 77 Glancaster Road, Ancaster on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 6-8 pm. Following a private family interment service at Carluke White Church Cemetery, a memorial service to celebrate and honour the life of Bert VanderVeen will be held at Rehoboth U.R.C. on Saturday, November 23 at 11 am. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
