VANDENBERK, WILHEMINA, Passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born February 08, 1940 in Rijsbergen, Netherlands and travelled to Canada for a new home and new dreams at the tender age of 13. While in Canada she met the love of her life Wouterus (Ted) Vandenberk, whom she married on May 05 1962. As a newlywed couple they worked side by side on a potato farm, and a trucking business starting in Perth County and then settling in the Sarnia area. Wilha was a driven person, self-taught who could speak three languages, a passionate gardener, fisherman, homemaker and animal lover. In her late 50’s she went to school earning her PSW certificate. She leaves behind her husband Ted, children: David (friend Kelly) Vandenberk, Donald (Lana) Vandenberk, Debby (John) McLeod and Janet (Stephen) Robertson. She was blessed with grandchildren: Corey Vandenberk, Joel and Riley McLeod, Colton and Caleb Vandenberk, Thomas and Kevin Robertson. Great-Oma to Marcadies, Mason, Abel and Julia, Sister to Cathy Vereyken, sister in law to Eileen Veeke, Tinny Veeke, William and Toni Vandenberk, Joe Vandenberk, Louise Vandenberk, Martin and Lia Vandenberk, Mary Verheyen, Jane and Joe Klunder. Preceded by granddaughter Ginny, sister Cos, brothers Jack, Andy and Neil, brother in laws Frank, Cor, Martin, and Jack, Sister in laws Jean and Core. Tante to many nieces and nephews in Canada and in the Netherlands. Private cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia, ON. N7T 5W9) on Friday November 8th, 2019 at 1:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia Humane Society or charity of one’s choice.
