Wayne Stephen Blois
1939-2019
Wayne Stephen Blois – 80, Central Onslow.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Wayne’s passing on
Friday afternoon, November 22, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, with his family by his side. Born in Truro, he was a
son of the late Douglas and Inez (Carter) Blois.
Wayne worked for Loughead’s Transfer, Glassy
Motors, Ron Moore’s Service Centre and then had his own
business, Industrial Catering, along with his wife, Carol, for many
years. He was an active member of Trinity United Church, Upper Onslow,
where he served as trustee, custodian and was involved with the
Men’s Club. He was also a trustee of Onslow Cemetery Corp.
and a member of Goodtime Senior Citizens Dance Club. Wayne enjoyed
time at the camp with Logan Fulton, tinkering in his garage, dancing
and telling funny jokes.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol
(Hoyt); daughter, Donna (Scott) MacNeill, Aylesford; sons, Rod
(Rhonda), Thane (Theresa) Onslow Mountain; grandchildren, Carly Blois,
Jenna Blois, Onslow Mountain; Nathan Blois, Five Islands; Jared Blois,
Onslow Mountain; Merissa MacNeill, Calgary; sisters, Joan (Logan)
Fulton, Truro; Avis (Ernie) Chapman, Ontario; brother, Keith (Martha)
Blois, Salmon River; sister-in-law, Betty Blois, Truro; several nieces
and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his
brothers, Logan, Graham, Gerald, Brian.
Special thanks to staff at Victoria General Hospital,
Halifax, Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre
and VON.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Wayne’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 28,
2019. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019,
at Trinity United Church, 415 Onslow Road, Upper Onslow, Reverend
Glenn MacLean officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Onslow
Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s
memory to Trinity United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity
