Thelma’s Obituary
VEINOT, Thelma Elaine ~ age 83, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of Torbrook, NS passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, NS, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Olive (Hiltz) Adams. Thelma worked at a number of different jobs before getting married to Reg, then devoted her life to raising her family, who she loved dearly; especially enjoying all her grandchildren who had a special place in her heart. She was a superior cook in which the family thoroughly enjoyed. She loved nature and took pleasure in bird watching, especially the hummingbirds at her home. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, doing crafts, reading, following politics keeping up on all the local issues. She was very involved in her community volunteering for various events over the years, Torbrook Consolidated Elementary School Assoc.; also with the Torm’Val Health Services Auxillary; and was secretary for the Valley Ostomy Society having travelled to Newfoundland where she “kissed the cod”. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Fred) Ross, Melvern Square; Bonnie (Scott) Veinot, Albany Cross; Angela Veinot, Nictaux Falls; sons, David (Candy) Adams, Torbrook West; Michael (Patricia) Haigh, Surrey, BC; David (Sheena) Charleton, North Williamston; sisters, Ruby Williams, Halifax; Hariett Austin, London, ON; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Reginald; sisters, Lillian Garber, Marjorie Conant, Margaret Hiltz; brother, Gordon Adams. The family would like to thank the staff at Grand View Manor, Berwick for the special care given to mom, and extend a thank-you to Dr. Chris Bauer and the staff of Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 in the Torbrook United Baptist Church, Torbrook, with Rev. Sarah Scott officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Torbrook United Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Church Hall. Donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation, or Charity of Choice.
