Louise «Mike» Blacklock
1931-2019
With sadness we announce the passing of Louise (Durgan)
Blacklock on November 15, 2019, at Passamaquoddy Lodge at the age of
88. Mike was born in Lubec, Maine, May 24, 1931, to her
Campobello parents, George and Evelyn Durgan. She is survived by her
two sons, Michael (Brenda) Best of Bocabec, NB and Tom Best of
Smithers, BC, son-in-law, Lawrence Neilson and grandchildren Andrew
and Amy Neilson of Vancouver, BC., step children; Linda Stone of
Victoria, BC., Donna Brodeur (Maurice) of Edmonton, AB. and Douglas
Blacklock (Teresa) of Woodstock, NB. She is predeceased by her
husband, Cedric «Bud», daughter, Mary Neilson and
sister, Teresa Durgan.
When her children were young, she had major problems with her
eyesight which led her to be the recipient of some of the first laser
surgery at the Boston Eye and Ear Institute. This surgery improved her
eyesight and, until recent years, enabled her to lead a normal life.
For several years, Mike was an active member of the CNIB and
CCB
Mike really enjoyed attending social gatherings with Bud, who
was a member of the Shriners and an antique car club, where they loved
listening to down east music and enjoying local homemade
foods.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Passamaquoddy
Lodge for the wonderful care she received while a resident there. She
especially loved the musical entertainment and the trivia
days.
By request, there will be no visitation or service.
Interment will be at the St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. Donations may
be made to the CNIB or CCB or a charity of one’s
choice.
