Memorial Donation
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre, Louis Bertram Lawrence at the age of 82 years. Louis was an avid amateur Radio Operator and operated under the call sign VO1UA for many years of his life and his other passion was hockey, he was a die hard Detroit Red Wings fan. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving and devoted wife Claudia (nee Keeping) of 60 years marriage. A proud father, grandfather and great grandfather he will be sadly missed by his children; Louis Lawrence (Anne) of Bon Accord, AB, Duane Lawrence (Tena) of Port aux Basques, only daughter Beverly Jeans (Jerome) of Fort McMurray, AB. Grandchildren; Wendy Drummond (Ryan) of Edmonton, AB, Darren Jeans (Lauren) of Fort MacMurray, AB, Matthew Lawrence (Sierra Gardiner) of Morinville, AB, Christopher Lawrence of Port aux Basques, Stephanie Lawrence (Derrick Mayer) of Vancouver, BC, Tori Anne (Cody Standing) Lawrence of Port aux Basques. Six great-grandchildren; Caleb, Blake, Jaxon, Thoran, Daxton and Brady.
He will forever remain in the hearts of his sisters and brothers-in-law; Joan Gale of Port aux Basques, Bob Keeping (Rowena) of Galahad, AB, George Keeping (Bernice) of Halifax, NS, Max Keeping (Tina) of Port aux Basques and a large circle of well loved nieces, nephews and special friends including Sonya Skinner, Justin Kendall and Dave Gillam. Louis was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Lawrence, father and mother-in-law; Harold and Alva Keeping, sisters; Alice Osmond (Loderick), Cora Nolan (Thomas), brothers; Maxwell, Gordon (Ada), Howard, Ronald, and Raymond. Sister-in-law Betty Lou Sheardown, brother-in-law Lorne Gale and niece Mia Gale Batt.
In keeping with Louis’ wishes, cremation has taken place,. The family will be receiving friends and family at East Haven Funeral Home (Downtown Location, 134 Main Street) on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services taking place on Thursday, November 21st, 2 pm at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Faye Coffin and Rev. Jane Allen, interment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers are graciously accepted, donations in memory of Louis can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
