John William Nicholson Sr.
1953 – 2019
John William Nicholson Sr., of Hilltop, NB passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the age of 66. Born in Barnaby River, NB, John was the son of the late Ambrose and Mary Jane (Buggie) Nicholson. John was a retired miner.
John is survived by two daughters: Lisa Marie Nicholson (Daniel Garret) of Bathurst, NB, and Crystal Nicholson of Ponoka, AB; two sons: Murdock Nicholson and Andrew Nicholson (Stacey Matchett) both of Miramichi, NB; five sisters: Theresa Turcotte of Bathurst, NB, Marie Watt of Miramichi, NB, Beatrice Nicholson of Nova Scotia, Louise Nicholson of Halifax, NS, and Betty Barry of Millerton, NB, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ambrose and Mary Jane and his wife Hazel Matchett, John was predeceased by one son: John Jr., two sisters: Edith Cando, and Lucy Nicholson, and three brothers: Lewis, Murdock, and Leo
Visitation will be held from Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway on Sunday, November 24 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will be in St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sevogle, NB later in the spring.
